The 4200 Master Shelf (MS) is a pre-wired chassis complete with Line Interface Card (LIC), User Interface Card (UIC), modem, RS-232 interface and local user interface. The LIC provides protection and conditioning to all 4200 MS inputs and outputs. The UIC interfaces system hardware with the user. An Advanced User Interface Card (AUIC) which provides an expanded data base and SNMP functionality is also available as an optional upgrade for the UIC. The chassis can accommodate a 4200 Multi-Tone Module (MTM) and up to four system line cards including 4200 Alarm Circuit Unit (ACU), 4200 Cathodic Protection Card (CPC) and 4200 Optical Alarm Unit (OAU). New system line cards are planned for future release and can easily be added to a vacant slot in the MS. Additional capacity or features can be added, as needs change, via remote programmable firmware on all installed cards. The 4200 MS is configurable for remote access via standard subscriber line, RS-232 channel, order wire or supervisory network.

The 4200 MS is 3 1/2 inches high (2 units). The system can be rack mounted in either a 19 or 23 inch relay rack with the adjustable brackets provided. The front panel has an LCD displaying system status and alarm conditions. The rear panel has external O/P ports for dry alarm contacts. The four-button keypad is for local control of system features.
