The LPU includes a bond bar which can be opened for isolating and testing. The LPU is a hybrid surge arrestor device using a three element maximum duty total failsafe gas tube arrestor and a MOV/resistor/ capacitor combination to provide high surge current protection and transient suppression. An LPU is typically used at the office equipment end of a monitored cable.
