2706 Sheath Grounding Unit
The 2706 Sheath Grounding Unit (SGU) connects to the cable armor and provides a low impedance ground path for high voltage transients while allowing tone location and monitoring signals to pass.
Description
The 2706 can be installed inside or outside a splice closure and is particularly suited for retrofit to existing cable. The 2706 SGU is environmentally sealed making it ideal for below grade applications. The 2706 SGU does not provide test access to the armor.
The 2706 is an encapsulated module containing a gas tube surge arrester, engineered to protect equipment from lightning and induced surges.
