19 Dec Norscans 12th Annual Pancake Breakfast Charity Drive A Success!
How the time flies!
As another successful year winds down to a close, we take a moment to reflect on just how fortunate we really are. It’s at this time of year that we all enjoy coming together with loved ones for holiday dinners and gifts, but many aren’t able to do the same. Some 11 years ago, we wanted to do something as an organization that brought us together during the holiday season, while also helping others do the same. It was at that time that the first Norscan Pancake Breakfast Charity Drive was held.
Every year around Christmas, Norscan staff and their family come together for a big pancake breakfast. Instead of exchanging gifts between colleagues, all staff are encouraged to bring a cash, food, or toy donation for the Winnipeg Christmas Cheer Board. This year’s 12th annual Norscan Pancake Breakfast was held on December 19th, and it was our most successful yet! This year Norscan raised $2,185 in cash, up $725 from the $1,460 raised last year, along with over 100 lbs of food and toys. Kai Madsen, Executive Director of the Christmas Cheer Board, was on hand to take in the festivities over a pancake or two. “I think it’s wonderful,” says Madsen. “When you start talking about community, and how we have a sense of community in Winnipeg, this is exactly what we’re talking about.”
Watch the video below to see more from the event, and watch for Jim Bender’s column in The Winnipeg Sun where he will be running an article on Norscan’s Pancake Breakfast. We will update our site and this article as soon as it’s live.
EDIT: The article can be found here, under the “Breakfast bucks” section.
Holiday spirit infectious at federal lab
We affectionately refer to it as the “bug building,” but there is absolutely nothing buggy about the people who work there.
On behalf of all of us at Norscan, we wish you and your family a very Happy Holidays. Whether it’s over a traditional turkey dinner or some good old fashioned pancakes, we hope your holiday season is surrounded by those you love.
Happy Holidays, and all the best in 2015!
