24 Jul Norscan Accelerates M2M Research Through TRTech’s Wavefront Program
If you work in the communications or technology industries, chances are you’ve heard your fair share about the emerging field of the Internet of Things (IoT) or Machine to Machine (M2M) technology. With its true potential yet to be realized, Norscan has been putting big emphasis on M2M research and its many different applications.
To accelerate our research, Norscan turned to TRTech and Wavefront’s Technology Accelerated Program funded by NRC-IRAP. “With Wavefront and TRTech’s extensive experience in wireless technology, we knew they were the right fit for the job.” says lead project developer Cory Jeffrey. “The Wavefront program was hugely helpful in the development of our wireless nodes. With TRTech’s help, we were able to design an improved antenna and research the best available location-estimation technology suitable for our application.”
When asked of its application, Jeffrey said “one of the main applications that we have been looking at is asset tracking, but its potential doesn’t stop there. One of the big challenges with current M2M technology is its cost. The low-cost antenna we developed through the Wavefront program ensures that this technology will be widely accessible and adaptable.”
